The Company Behind TurboSteel
TurboSteel is the steel brand of Prakash Sponge Iron and Power Private Limited (PSIPPL), whose plant sits at Heggere and Kaparahalli villages in Challakere taluk, Chitradurga district, Karnataka.
PSIPPL is part of the ERM Group, which has spent more than four decades in iron ore and manganese mining and steel. That heritage is not decoration — it is the reason TurboSteel can control what goes into the steel, not just what comes out of it.
Because the group mines its own ore and makes its own sponge iron, there is no point in the process where a bought-in billet of unknown chemistry enters the line. Every stage below happens inside one supply chain.

Key Moments
The ERM Group starts operations in iron ore and manganese mining — building the raw-material expertise that TurboSteel would later be founded on.
Prakash Sponge Iron and Power Private Limited is incorporated on 10 September 2007, with its plant at Heggere and Kaparahalli villages, Challakere taluk, Chitradurga district, Karnataka.
The Federation of Indian Mineral Industries presents its Misrilal Jain Environment Award (2015–16) to Shri R. Praveen Chandra for contribution to environmental protection and sustainable mining. Presented by Union Minister Shri Piyush Goyal in New Delhi.
John Iron Ore Mine receives the 5-Star Rating for Sustainable Development at NCMM-2018, awarded by the Indian Bureau of Mines and the Ministry of Mines, Government of India.
TurboSteel LPS TMT Bars launch as the first and only product in Karnataka to use LPS (Low Phosphorus Sulphur) technology for high grade steel bars, with actor-director Ramesh Aravind as brand ambassador.
PSIPPL contributes to the Comprehensive COVID Care Centre at St. John's Medical College Hospital, Bangalore, and donates tablets to government school children through Rotary Club Chitradurga Fort.
Fe 550 and Fe 550D LPS TMT Bars are now available across all 38 districts — BIS certified, TEMPCORE™ quenched, and made from steel that started as ore inside the same group.

TurboSteel carries certification from six independent bodies. IIT Madras tested the bars for chemical composition — one of very few TMT bars to pass that test.
